Ministers Ring & Varadkar announces plans for new Tourism Policy

Minister Varadkar and Minister of State Ring launched a public consultation process for a new tourism policy for Ireland on Wednesday 11th September 2013.

Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar said "Tourism has moved from crisis mode two years ago, firmly into recovery mode now. With the success of The Gathering, a significant increase in overseas visits for three years in a row and a good summer for domestic tourism behind us, we now must ask ourselves, what next? I want this to be the most far-reaching review of Irish tourism policy review in years. 2013 has been a good year for Irish tourism. What I want now is a plan for sustainable growth out to 2020 and beyond."

For the purposes of consultation, the issues and questions in the consultation document are being presented under headings:

1. Tourism Marketing.

2. Tourism product development.

3.  Human resource / training / innovation / enterprise support.

Ryanair concludes 5 year growth deal with Pisa Florence

Ryanair has announced it has concluded a five year growth deal with Pisa Florence to 2018 which will see Ryanair traffic grow at Pisa of 15% from 2.6 million to 3 million passengers by 2018.

Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary said "Ryanair is pleased to announce a new 5 year deal at Pisa Airport, which will see our Pisa traffic grow by 15%, from 2.6m to 3m passengers by 2018, as we extend our commitment to growing Pisa traffic and tourism."

In 2014 the airline will have seven based Boeing 737-800s in Pisa operating 50 routes with 446 weekly flights delivering 2.6 million passengers.
