Irish Historic Flight takes to the skies this summer

The Irish Historic Flight will be touring the UK and Ireland this summer.

This Flight of two de Havilland Chipmunks in Irish Air Corps colours and the Aer Lingus de Havilland Dragon are coming together for the 2014 season to celebrate of 50 years of Irish cadet pilot training.

G-ARGG and G-BDRJ arrived in Dublin Airport on Saturday 27th April to participate in private Aer Lingus pilot graduation event taking place today in Hangar 6.

The first confirmed Irish Historic Flight Events in Ireland will be (weather permitting) :10th May Weston Special Day 31st May Enniskillen Fly-In 1st/2nd June Ballyboy Fly-In.

G-ARGG DHC-1 CHIPMUNK 22 serial number C1/0247  in Aer Corps period colours, marked 169.

Ryanair returns EI-DPS Boeing 737-8AS to lessor

Irish budget carrier Ryanair has returned EI-DPS Boeing 737-8AS to lessor Orix Aviation.

According to aircraft flight tracking website Planefinder.ent EI-DPS Boeing 737-8AS/W construction number  33641 operated last service RYR772 Dublin to Prestwick on 25th February and withdrawn from use and stored 25/02/14.

On 28th March it was ferried Glasgow Prestwick to Shannon on return to lessor,being cancelled from Irish register shortly after arrival.

The aircraft was rolled out of Eirtech Aviation paint on 5th April as TC-CPO in full Pegasus Airlines colours and was towed to Transaero Engineering Hangar.

TC-CPO was delivered Shannon to Sabiha Gökçen International Airport on Friday 18th April.

The handback of EI-DPS to lessor leaves the carrier with 297 units in service.

Fourth Boeing 787 delivered to Norwegian Long Haul

Norwegian Long-Haul has taken delivery of it's fourth Boeing 787. EI-LND Boeing 787-8 construction number 35310 ModeS 4CAB08, leased from lessor ILFC. The aircraft was delivered Paine Field to Dublin on 26th March as 'NLH1KA' in basic Norwegian colours for for post delivery application of decals and tail painting.

EI-LND was named "Grete Waitz" and tail was painted in portrait of Grete Waitz. A nine time New York Women’s Marathon winner and silver medalist at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and a gold medal at the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki.

The aircraft departed Dublin at 1700 hours on Monday 31st March  to Stockholm Arlanda. It positioned to Oslo Gardermoen on 5th April, operating it's first revenue service as DY7201/2 to and from Bangkok.

Norwegian will take delivery of a further three Boeing 787s in 2014.

Dublin Airport has hosted three Boeing 787s visits to date EI-LNB, EI-LND and N787BX.

Norwegian carried more than 1.8 million passengers in March 2014, an increase of 25% compared to the same month last year. The capacity growth was 51 percent, in absolute terms the highest capacity growth in a single month.

Cityjet returns RJ85 to lessor

Irish regional carrier Cityjet has returned one of it's RJ85 to lessor. EI-RJA RJ85 construction number E2329 was ferried Dublin to Carnfield as Cityjet 041P on 13th March 2014. It was devoid of titles and the red tail stripe but still wore the little black squares on the forward fuselage.

EI-RJA was cancelled from Irish register on 26th March was re-registered as G-CDYK to Triangle (Funding One) Ltd.

Cityjet sells RJ85 to Air Annobón

Irish regional carrier Cityjet has sold an RJ85 to Equatorial Guinea based carrier Air Annobón operating from San Antonio de Pale, Annobón Island. The pictured RJ85 EI-RJS (c/n E2365) positioned Norwich to Shannon on 16th February for painting by Eirtech Aviation, prior to positioning back to Dublin on 26th February, prior delivery.

The RJ85 is named “Mebana".

On 26th March EI-RJS was delivered Dublin-Palma-Aguenar- Hadj Bey Akhamok Airport-Malabo International and is to take up registration 3C-MAA.

The African Aviation Tribune stated the airline is based out of San Antonio de Palé, the capital of Annobón Island. Air Annobón is owned by  Cándido Nsue Okomo, the director of the national petroleum company, GEPetrol.

Annobón Island (named after “ano bom”, Portuguese for “good year”), also known as Pagalu or Pigalu, is an island of the coast of Equatorial Guinea and is part of the Cameroon Line archipelago according to Wikipedia.

Air Annobón has a fleet of two Bae146-300s.

EI-FCY ATR72-600 Delivered to Stobart Air

Aer Lingus Regional operated by Stobart Air has taken delivery of it's seventh ATR72-600.

EI-FCY ATR72-212A (600) construction number 1139 Hex code 4CAB17 named "St Oliver Plunkett" ex test registration F-WWED was delivered Toulouse to Dublin on Friday 4th April as 'REA607P' arriving 1855 local.

The aircraft proceeded to Hangar 6 on arrival for post-delivery work, prior to entry to sevice next day, Saturday 5th April, operating it's first revenue service to London Southend.

According to website Planefinder EI-FCY used test registration F-WWED and it's first flight was 25th March 2014.

Stobart Air's final ATR72-600 EI-FAZ is to be delivered in June.
