Cleveland’s International Women’s Air & Space Museum celebrates Irish Aviator Nancy Corrigan

The International Women’s Air & Space Museum is celebrating one of Cleveland’s own aviators with an exhibit.  Nancy Corrigan—originally from Owenduff, Ireland— came to Cleveland with her mother and three sisters in the late 1920’s. The exhibit examines her life as a woman pilot, highlighting the Air Races she attended and participated in. Through photographs, a brief video of one of the races Nancy was in and research done by the Corrigan family, we are given a glimpse into the life of a Cleveland aviator.

The International Women’s Air & Space Museum is located in the terminal of Burke Lakefront Airport, only seconds from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the Great Lakes Science Center. The mission of IWASM is to preserve the history of women in aviation and space and to document their continuing contributions today and in the future.

In 1986 the museum opened in Centerville, Ohio. IWASM was welcomed to the City of Cleveland, Ohio in 1998, where you will find their home at Burke Lakefront Airport. Exhibits are in the lobby at Burke, as well as the west concourse, and are accessible seven days a week.

Good news for Dublin Airport as US Airways reinstates A330 on Philadelphia route

US Airways Airbus A330-200
US Airways announced in November 2013  the use of a larger aircraft on its Philadelphia to Dublin service, an Airbus A330-200 with 252 seats featuring 20 Envoy Suite lie-flat seats and 232 seats in economy, between 29th March and 24th October.

The carrier is the third airline to introduce lie-flat seats on the North Atlantic routes from Ireland after Delta Airlines and United Airlines.

However use of A330-200 ceased on 16th June thereafter service was prominently operated by Boeing 767-200s and occasional Boeing 757-200. Research suggests aircraft change was due to market/operational issues.

On Saturday 2nd August the larger Airbus A330-200 aircraft was reinstated.

US Airways operates a year-round Philadelphia to Dublin service and seasonal service to Charlotte from 6th May to 28th September.

Stobart Air ATR72-200
The last link to Aer Arann brand disappeared as from 0001 hours local on Sunday 3rd August. Aer Arann changed it's ICAO three letter code from REA to STK and telephony designator callsign from "Aer Arann" to "Stobart".

All aircraft carry "Operated by Stobart Air" titles.

EI-REI ATR72-201 c/n 267 named "Ainle / Warrior" is the only aircraft in its fleet painted in full Stobart Air colours. This aircraft provides flexibility to interchange on Aer Lingus Regional and Flybe franchise operations as required.
