In 2015 the carrier officially announced the conversion of ten of their orders for the Boeing 787-9 into orders for the Boeing 777-300ER noting that "The aircraft will provide attractive upgauge and range opportunities to the company at competitive economics."
The carrier operates a fleet of 17 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with one aircraft outstanding from order book operating primarily on Asia routes from Newark and San Franciso hubs.
United’s 777-300ER aircraft features the new Polaris business class seat. Each Polaris suite-like pod will feature direct access to the aisle, a 180-degree flat-bed that measures 6’6” and 23 inches wide with infinite seat recline options and one-touch lumbar support, ample storage, multiple surfaces that enable passengers to dine while working, universal A/C power as well as 2-USB ports, a 16-inch high-definition entertainment screen, electronic privacy dividers for seats in the center of the cabin, mood lighting and an illuminated “Do Not Disturb” sign.
The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft is configured with 60 seats in business class and 102 economy plus and 204 economy seats. United Airlines is the third North American operator of the Boeing 777-300ER following Air Canada and American Airlines.
United intends to extend the life of all 21 of its Boeing 767-300ER aircraft and switch some of its Boeing 757-200 capacity from Transatlantic to US domestic routes and Latin American routes. United operates 757s from Dublin to Chicago (Seasonal), Newark (second daily seasonal) and Washington Dulles.
