US DOT Filing Reveals planned Aer Lingus UK-US Flights

                                                           An Aer Lingus filing with the US Department of Transportation (DOT) dated 9 December revealed planned UK-Flights from Manchester to Boston, New York and Orlando year-round with a joint application by Aer Lingus and its new subsidiary Aer Lingus (U.K.) Limited with four based Airbus A321LR/330 aircraft. The airline sees a market opportunity in Manchester following the collapse of Thomas Cook Airlines with all routes to be served by one carrier and 70% of the peak summer capacity is anticipated to be operated by Virgin Atlantic.  In the first year of operations it anticipates to operate daily flights to New York (JFK), daily summer flights and four flights per week in the winter to Orlando, and daily summer flights to Boston.  The carrier has applied for US DOT approval to code-share with its IAG sister company British Airways on the routes.  The authority requested by Aer Lingus (U.K.) Limited is consistent with the UK & US

Ryanair Resumes Dublin-Santorini Route For Summer 2021

                                                                  Irish budget carrier Ryanair is  resuming its seasonal Dublin to Santorini Route for Summer 2021 operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1st May to 31st October using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. In Summer 2020 Ryanair launched three new routes to Greece from Dublin to Corfu, Mykonos and Santorini which commenced in July and August due COVID-19 travel restrictions until Greece become 'Green' on the Irish Government's travel list.  For Summer 2021 Corfu and Mykonos are visible on Ryanair's online booking engine but no dates are presently available.  Also Dublin to Thessaloniki is operating twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays from 29 March to 31 October.  Image courtesy of Ryanair  Irish Aviation Research Institute © 7 December 2020 All Rights Reserved.

Ryanair grows its firm Boeing 737 MAX order book to 210 aircraft

                                                                  Boeing  and Ryanair announced the airline is placing a firm order for 75 additional 737 MAX aircraft, increasing its order book to 210 aircraft . Ryanair again selected the 737 8-200, a higher-capacity version of the 737-8, citing the aircraft's additional seats and improved fuel efficiency and environmental performance. Boeing CEO & President Dave Calhoun said "Ryanair will continue to play a leading role in our industry when Europe recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic and air traffic returns to growth across the continent. Aer Lingus announces new Santorini route for Summer 2021

                                                                   Aer Lingus has announced a new route from Dublin to Santorini for Summer 2021 operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays using Airbus A320-200 aircraft from 1st May to 25th September. Aer Lingus Chief Commercial Officer David Shepherd said "We are delighted to announce our new service to Santorini as part of Aer Lingus’ Summer 2021 schedule and really give Irish holidaymakers something to look forward to. With the encouraging developments regarding vaccines and the introduction of improved testing regimes we are gearing up for a busy summer ahead. Our customers can book their summer holidays with confidence thanks to our flexible booking options and travel in the knowledge that the airline prioritises the safety and wellbeing of our customers and our people at all times."  Santorini will bring the airline’s total number of Greek routes to four for Summer 2021, including Rhodes, Corfu and Athens.
